DAYBREAKER of the MONTH: Nissa

Meet Nissa!

Nissa has been a Daybreaker since the “Parking Lot Days”. When she first came to Daybreak she had an affinity for running but that soon changed. She now consistently attends the 5:30a and LOVES barbell movements, rallying those around her to attend Barbell Club!

Nissa suffered an achilles tear in May and underwent surgery. Once given the ok by her doctor Nissa was back in class, boot and all, doing everything she could to maintain her fitness. Once out of the boot, Nissa slowly started Olympic lifting again and is nearly back to her PR weights!

About Nissa

I live in Wayland with my husband, Sean and 3 kids.  Madison (25) Mason (15) Avery (13) and 3 dogs.  Fun fact: we both grew up in Wayland and have known each other since kindergarten. I have worked in orthopedics for over 20 years as a Radiologic Technologist. I started CrossFit at Daybreak 5 years ago on a whim and never left! You can always find me at the 5:30am non cardio days 🙂
1- What keeps you coming back to CrossFit each day?
The coaches of course, the members that push me and hold me accountable AND of course, the barbell!

2- What’s the best thing you did over the holidays?
I know this may sound cliché but having my family home.  My oldest moved out a few months ago and having her back for a few days was priceless.
3- Any resolutions for the New Year?
I rarely make New Years resolutions but after the year i had in 2018 I’m going to stay positive and get my a$$ to the gym.
4- If you could live anywhere and take everything and everyone you love with you, where would you go?
I’ve been told it needs to be outside my 5-mile radius :). I’d pack all the kids and dogs up and move to a small cottage or bungalow on a lake up north somewhere.
5- What’s your spirit animal (an animal that represents you)?
Hmmmmmm, the last 6 months I’ve been known as “the shrimp” so, i guess I’ll go with that 🙂
