WOD GUIDANCE & GOALS
This workout will take the entire class time. Choose a steady pace and go! To keep an accurate count, mark off every 100 reps on a whiteboard and switch the direction you’re facing. Another method is to do 10 steps on right leg, 10 on left leg until you get to 100, then mark those 100 off. Repeat ten times.

Remember that Hero workouts take on a greater meaning than our everyday workouts. When the workout seems/feels difficult, remember that you’re doing it to honor a special person and/or cause, in this case Chad and awareness and prevention of veteran suicide. So, get to work, do your best, positive thoughts and throw an occasional high-five to your WOD neighbor.

ABOUT CHAD
Sara Wilkinson (Chad’s surviving wife) presents this hero workout in honor of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson who took his life on October 29, 2018 due to the effects of numerous deployments, several TBIs, blast wave injuries and PTSD.

The workout is modeled after his preparation training for an upcoming deployment. When his wife, Sara, spoke at his funeral, she recounted the story about when she walked into the garage to find Chad doing step-ups wearing a weighted backpack. He was training before he had to climb Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in South America, by doing 1000 step-ups at a time.

WOD GUIDANCE & GOALS
HEAVY DAY! Coaches will help you build to 80% of your 1 rep max power clean, and then you’ll build by 3% every round. The reps do not have to be touch and go, you may drop from the top.

For Power Elizabeth, choose a weight you can cycle for 10-15 reps before HAVING to break your sets (should not be unbroken.) Chip away at the ring dips in thirds, never going to failure on any set. Target sub 10 minutes.

EVENT: Honoring Those Who Served on Veterans Day

HERO WOD

We’re honoring those who served this Veterans Day by hosting a special Hero WOD “CHAD”. We’re getting the word out early to help raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention. On Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, all classes will be doing the HERO WOD “CHAD” which consists of 1000 step-ups to a 20″ box (weighted or unweighted) for time. You can do this solo, you can partner up, or you can scale the height and/or weight and/or number of reps. It’s about the why we do it, not the how.

You have the option to contribute to the cause through the link below, which takes you to Chad’s suicide prevention fundraising page.

HOW TO HELP

Sara’s goal is to honor Chad’s life and legacy and to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Last year’s CHAD 1000X event saw 4,500+ registered participants (with over $100K raised) looking to be a part of something greater than themselves. To not only bring awareness to the epidemic of suicide, particularly among veterans, but also to help be part of the solution through the support to the Navy SEAL Foundation and other veteran health initiatives.

This year, join us again in paying respect to Chad Wilkinson and all those who have been lost to suicide, while also committing to try to change the number. #CHAD1000X
